Objectives: To encourage Federal agencies to provide assistance to persons with disabilities, including disabled veterans, in obtaining and retaining Federal employment, with or without reasonable accommodations including readers, interpreters, and other personal assistants.

145,105 Federal employees with targeted and non-targeted disabilities.
In fiscal year 1994, there were 1,213 full time permanent (FTP) hires
made using the special appointing authorities for persons with
disabilities and 1,180 FTP hires using other appointing authorities.
