Information for Disabled Travellers

Gatwick Express is committed to caring for customers with disabilities,ensuring that they can travel easily and freely. This leaflet outlines the facilities and assistance available at Victoria and Gatwick Airport stations for Gatwick Express customers with disabilities.

VICTORIA STATION

Gatwick Express trains depart normally,from platform 13 an 14. These can be accessed,on one level across the main concourse,from the taxi drop off point at the front of the station. Access is also available directly to the Gatewick Express platforms,via a lift and escalator,from the taxi drop off point at Victoria Place off Eccleston Bridge.

A porter service is available throughout most of the day.For customers with mobility problems,Railtrack can provide transport trough the station in a motorised buggy.London Transport operates a Stationlink bus service which calls at the main London station termini.

The pick up and set down point is outside the main front entrance of the station. It runs in a clockwise circuit starting at Victoria at 0845 and hourly until 1945. The Bus is equipped with a lift for wheelchair users.Induction loops are fitted at the booking offices for customers with hearing difficulties.

ON TRAIN

Staff will facilitate access onto and from the train. Each train has a seat that has been modified to accomodate wheelchairs.There is an at seat service of refreshments on most trains.Holders of the Disabled Persons Railcard may purchase tickets using their railcard on train.

GATWICK

The concourse is accessible from the platform via escalators and lift.Due to the layout of the station,staff assistance is requierd for access to and from some platforms.The airport concourse is on one level with the station concourse and easily accessible.

A porter service is available troughout most of the day.For customers with mobility problems,BAA can provide transport through the airport in a motorised buggy.Induction loops are fitted at the booking office for customers with hearing difficulties.Staff will assist with onward connections at the station .

OBTAINING ASSISTANCE

Customers requiring assistance can bok this prior to travel.

Contact numbers and availability are given below.Arrengment can also be made through the Gatwick Travel Centre located on the main concourse ,giving 24 hours notice of travel plans.Request for assistance can also be made in writing to Customers Services,Gatwick Express Ltd,52 Grosvenor Gardens,London SW1W OAU.

Customers will however,be given assistance if they arrive at the staations without notice,although it would be advisable to allow a little extra time.

The Disabled Persons Reporting System is a national service and is available to customers travelling anywhere on the network.The other number is specific to Gatwick Express but customers travelling onward aafter using the Gatwick Express would not have to make further arrangements.
